Care For Your Jewelry

At Khemeia, we craft our pieces with love, care and timeless design. Our jewelry is made from 925 sterling silver, with some pieces plated in 14K gold vermeil. To ensure your jewelry stays beautiful for years, please Learn more about how to care for them, and preserve their power.

Avoid Water & Moisture

  • Always remove your jewelry before swimming or showering

  • Water, especially saltwater and chlorinated water, can cause silver to tarnish and gold plating to wear off faster

  • Humidity can also affect the shine of silver, so store your pieces in a dry place

Keep Away from Chemicals

  • Avoid contact with perfume, lotions, hairsprays, and household cleaning products

  • Chemicals can accelerate tarnishing and damage gold plating

Clean with Care

  • Clean your jewelry regularly with a soft, lint-free cloth to remove oils and dirt

  • Avoid abrasive materials or chemical cleaners, as they can scratch the silver and damage the gold plating

  • For a deeper clean, gently wipe with a damp cloth using mild soap and water, then dry thoroughly. (Do not soak gold-plated pieces)

Store Properly

  • Store your jewelry in a clean, dry container to prevent tarnishing

  • We recommend using a soft pouch or a jewelry box with compartments to avoid scratches

  • Keep silver and gold-plated pieces separate to protect the plating from friction

Additional Tips

  • If you notice any tarnish, gently polish the piece with a specialized silver-cleaning cloth

  • Gold plating naturally fades over time with regular wear; treat your gold-plated pieces with extra care to expand their lifespan

  • 925 Sterling Silver is a low maintenance metal that can be worn every day. Oxidation, a natural reaction, can occur with exposure to air, humidity or cosmetics. The skin’s PH may also expedite oxidation of the silver. Do not worry, if your silver jewel loses its original shine, you can gently clean it with a silver polishing cloth and it will return to its original state.
